Funded Qualifications for Hairdressing
On completion of this qualification you will be able to shampoo and condition hair, cut hair using a range of techniques, style and finish hair to create a variety of looks, and colour and lighten hair for ladies and men. You will be able to work with all hair types ranging from straight hair to very curly, wiry hair. You will also be able to carry out consultations with clients, demonstrate the professionalism, values, behaviors, communication skills and safe working practices.
This qualification includes all the required elements to work effectively as a junior hairdresser/stylist including: health and safety; client consultation; shampoo and conditioning hair; the research unit - working in the hair industry; cut womens hair; colour and lighten hair and the art of dressing hair.
This qualification is based on the national occupational standards for barbering and includes all the required elements to work effectively as a barber. Learners must achieve all mandatory units which include:
Advise and consult with clients
Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp
Develop and maintain your effectiveness at work
Cut men's hair using basic techniques
Cut facial hair to shape using basic techniques
Dry and finish men's hair
Create basic outlines and detailing in hair
This qualification covers specific skills necessary to work as a senior hairdresser in the mens/barber hairdressing industry. The qualification builds on existing knowledge and understanding of hairdressing and develops more detailed and enhanced technical skills necessary for employment. Your skills and techniques will be assessed in a real working environment.
This qualification covers specific skills necessary to become a senior stylist. The qualification builds on existing knowledge and understanding of hairdressing and develops more detailed and enhanced technical skills necessary for employment. Funded Qualifications for Beauty Therapy
This qualification includes all the required elements to work effectively as a beauty therapist including: facial skincare, enhancement of eyebrows and eyelashes, waxing services, manicure, pedicure, effectiveness at work, health and safety and promoting additional products and services to clients.
Learners will further develop their understanding and skills based by selecting a number of optional specialist units which include: make-up and salon reception duties
This qualification includes all the required elements to work effectively as a junior beautician/beauty specialist including: removing hair using waxing techniques, applying make-up, eyelash and eyebrow treatments, manicure, pedicure, facial skincare, client care, health and safety and fulfilling salon reception duties, eyelash perming, instructing on make-up application.
This is a vocational qualification and includes all the required elements to work effectively as a beauty therapist including, mandatory units covering the following: facial and body electrical, body massage, electrical epilation, stone therapy monitoring procedures in the salon and contributing to the planning of a promotional event.

This is a practical-based qualification intended for those who assess both occupational competence in the work environment, and vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the workplace (i.e. classroom or other training environment). Entry onto this qualification will require you to have full competence in the vocational subject area that you will be assessing and you will need access to a cohort of learners, so that you can gather evidence of real assessments.
This qualification has been specifically designed to equip a wide range of teachers/trainers and facilitators with the requisite skills and knowledge required to fulfill a teaching role. This course covers preparation, planning and basic course design. They will also gain teaching delivery skills and participate in microteaching sessions.
